The Apperance of the Beast

Sam and I were keeping the fire at night. The fire wasn’t enough to keep us warm, but we tried to keep it up, careful to not burn the whole lot. Sam and I were tired we only had a few minutes until sleep overpowered us, but then I saw something coming toward us from the woods. Then I saw it, the beast was there…

I screamed Sam’s name hysterically. A rush of adrenaline and fear made my heart beat faster and it might have skipped a beat or two. Sam and I yelled as we ran back to the platform, the beast was behind us and it nearly grabbed me. I nearly got us.

We woke up Ralph and an assembly was called we told the story of the attack, finishing each other’s sentences and panting on our breaks. Ralph said that this was a hunter’s job and he asked if there was any place jack hadn’t gone. The only places left to check was were the rocks piled up.  I was terrified and I also saw it in my brother’s eyes, that thing could be up there. We went on the morning, spears ready. The boys that were hunters and Ralph went up; the rest remained at the base. The beast wasn’t up there; I was disappointed of not getting rid of the beast, but most of all grateful for not having to face it.
